Lucerne to Interlaken

We'd bought our train tickets yesterday afternoon so all we had to do was head for platform 13 where the train was waiting for us.

The train is well equipped with waste bins, cupholders and a very useful map.

I wasn't sure how I'd enjoy trying to photograph through windows and it was actually worse than I'd envisaged as overhead lighting along with other people's clothing gave me some dreadful reflections.  So just a flavour of the scenery we went through, not helped by the overcast skies and tinted windows (although I've done my best to correct this in Photoshop).  After booking this trip we discovered that May is generally one of the wettest months in Switzerland which probably accounts for the acid green landscape (it reminded me of North Wales where it also rains a lot!).

We past several magnificent churches.

In due course we arrived at Interlaken Ost (east) however our hotel was near the west station and although there was a shuttle between the two it involved a long wait so we decided to walk the mile or so to the hotel - a few images on the way.

The pavement was being dug up (isn't it always) and so we had to detour though this Japanese style garden.

Shops line one side of the street and on the other side is open parkland.

Dozens and dozens of tandem paragliders were coming into land so I spent quite a while taking photos of total strangers hoping for an exciting shot.

Having checked-in to our hotel for the next 2 nights, we headed off to a nearby Lidl to get some wine for later and also to book a table at an Italian restaurant we'd passed that had reasonable prices (well, if you can call €25 for a pizza reasonable).  The fridge in our room didn't seem to be working and it was considerably hotter than we'd imagined it would be, but the sweet receptionist offered to chill the wine in the kitchen fridge for us.  The restaurant was lovely, nice staff and dinner, pizza of course, was delicious.  Having got bargain priced wine in the supermarket, Ian decided to indulge in a €6 glass of rosé which at just 100cl barely covered the bottom of the glass.
