Montreux 2

Right on time here comes our boat, an old paddle steamer.

We spent a pleasant 2 hours cruising around the lake, although there was no commentary so we have no idea if we passed anything of note.

This lone tree was rather photogenic although definitely "judge bait" especially as there are only 2 elements in the picture.

Some areas were a little industrialised but it didn't spoil the overall beauty of the lake.

I should imagine mooring fees are rather high.

I have no idea what this little thing is, but I would love to have a ride in one.

So tranquil and peaceful, despite a boatload of tourists chattering all around us.

This is Vevey, a town about 8kms up the shoreline, which looks really nice.

I particularly like the living façade of the building.

The boat got back to Montreux centre around 19:00 and it was a beautiful evening for a walk along the prom.

You could weave a good tale around this image of the two girls talking and a departing boat.

This art installation is supposed to represent a flying fish, I think.

I couldn't resist a couple more pictures of Freddie.

And without so many people around this time we were able to read the inscription

On the way back to the hotel we decided we were a bit too tired to look for something "proper" to eat so stopped off at a well known fast food chain and sat outside to eat our meal and then headed back to the hotel.  After an hour or so rest, we then wandered back down to the lakeside to watch the sunset.

The planting is beautiful, clearly a very "Mediterranean" climate here.

I'm convinced this is the Matterhorn but Ian thinks it's too far away to be visible - maybe I've just eaten too much Toblerone (although I understand they are having to redo the packaging as apparently it's now made in Slovakia)

I have no idea who or what this statue is about.  Is he wearing modern ripped jeans, or has the statue been worn  by people sitting on or stroking his knees!

A perfect end to a lovely day!
